Why tour the Czech Republic Greenways?

What all our Czech Greenways tours have in common, is the unique experience of freedom in the area that was cut off by the Iron Curtain for 40 long years and exploring countless charming castles, fairytale chateaux and cosy medieval towns as well as a varied landscape.
Add the best beer in the world, great Moravian wine, safe backroads and precisely marked routes, and there is no wonder they are our flagship tours.
We offer Czech Greenways Vienna - Prague tour as a cycling trip in three versions, a special road bike tour, a walking tour and a flexible multisport tour including horse riding and canoeing.

Czech Republic is a perfect country for cycling and walking

Czech Greenways cycling sign With the largest density of castles and chateaux per square kilometer in Europe and incredible, unspoilt mountain, forest, river and wetland landscapes, there is so much to see. The variety of landscapes is really refreshing, so you can go past vineyards, forests, meadows, rocks and fishponds in one tour, sometimes even in one day.

Czech cycling routes

The dense network of paved backroads and field and forest trails makes for a relaxed ride throughout the Czech countryside. There are clearly marked bike routes taking you to the most intersting places, many of them included in the international EuroVelo system. Though some of the routes are shared with public traffic, you can feel quite safe on the Czech roads.

Detailed tourist mapsCzech Greenways detailed map

Both cyclists and hikers can benefit from precise topographic maps issued by Czech Tourist Club. They come in 1:50 000 scale and are based on military maps kept top secret until 1989, yet they are updated frequently. These maps cover the entire area of the Czech Republic.

Czech walking trails

Czech hiking signs

The foundations of walking in the Czech Republic were laid down by the Czech Tourist Club over 100 years ago. At this time an extensive network of hiking trails was created and marked out by hundreds of club members. An excellent web of 38,500 km well-marked, well-connected, Czech hiking trails is the legacy of their work. Today the hiking trails are still maintained by Czech Tourist Club members on a purely voluntary basis.
The marking system is very easy to follow and you will see painted signs on posts, rocks and trees along the way. Sign posts at main hiking route junctions detail kilometers to the nearest destinations.
