Czech Greenways: Vienna –

As
yet, one of the great, undiscovered cycling trails in Central Europe.
This route is full of cultural and historical gems including
6 UNESCO world heritage sites – Schonbrunn palace in Vienna, the
chateaux of Valtice and Lednice, the renaissance town square in
Telc, the medieval town of Cesky Krumlov and the rustic baroque
village of Holasovice.
You will also cycle along the remnants of
the Iron Curtain as you follow the border area with Austria. You
will be staying in the best small towns along the way whose local
pubs serve the best beer in the world – it could only be Czech
beer!

Czech Elbe
River Trail: Spindleruv Mlyn - Hrensko

This
superb trail leads you along the largest Czech River, the Elbe
(total length 360 km) and begins
close to its source in the mighty Krko
nose mountains. Like the
majority of cycling trails following
water courses, this route offers
beautiful views of the river (Elbe pass
and the confluence of the Elbe with
the Vltava at Melnik). There are also
interesting monuments in towns
along the route some of whose centres are protected areas for this
reason (Vrchlabi, Jaromer, Hradec Kralove, Pardubice,
Kolin, Podebrady, Stara Boleslav). In addition, you can visit a
host of chateaux and castles (Kuks,
Vrchlabi,
Kuneticka
Hora, Melnik,
Libechov, Decin).

Gothic church of St. Barbara in the town of Kutna

Sumava Mountains Trail:
Domazlice – Cesky Krumlov

breath-taking nature of the Sumava Mountains in South Bohemia lead
to the area being designated as a National Park and a UNESCO
Biosphere Reserve. Cycling by small mountain towns and villages
and around the forested slopes of the largest mountain, we show
you the leaning tower in Domazlice as well as Vyssi Brod monastery
and the imposing Rozmberk castle. Finish in the
medieval town of Cesky Krumlov.

Czech Amber Trail:
Mikulov – Cesky Tesin
6-day / 6-night, self-guided tour €950, guided tour €1290
This
cycle route takes you
South - North from the Austrian to the
Polish borders and leads through South and
North Moravia. The trail follows an
old amber trading route - the Amber
Trail -which
as early as the time of the Celts, connected the Baltic
region with the Mediterranean sea.
Amber was one of the most valued
commodities of the time. It starts
in the winemaking landscape of South
Moravia, with its main landmarks of
the Palava hills and continues through
the Moravian metropolis of Brno to the
Moravian Karst, under which lies the
most interesting cave system in the
Czech Republic. The journey takes
you through the Drahan highlands
and the Hana plain to the ancient
town of Olomouc and further to the Moravian gate around castle
Helfstyn, the spa town
of Teplice nad Becvou and on through historical Stramberk and Hukvaldy
to the border
town of Cesky Tesin.

From
Moravia to Bohemia:
Mikulov – Hradec Kralove

Start
your cycling in South Moravia in
historical Mikulov, and ride on through
the breathtaking Lednice-Valtice
Area, to the area around the town of Slavkov
(also known as Austerlitz).
Here, in 1805, the outnumbered troops
of Emperor Napoleon of France were
victorious against the combined armies
of Austria and Russia. After Austerlitz,
continue to the region called the
Moravian Karst and its incredible cave
systems. The next destination is the
charming town of Litomysl, home of
the legendary Czech composer Bedrich
Smetana. Finish in Hradec Kralove, the
main town of East Bohemia,
traditioanally the seat of the Czech Queens.
